The GTS system is not based on, nor optimized, on back testing, like most trading systems that show you great hypothetical results based on its parameters having been optimized on historical data. Back-testing is one of the biggest fallacies that, unfortunately, many amateur traders fall in its trap. Every professional trader knows that past history and past results are not a guarantee that the same history or the same set of data will be repeated in the future. All financial markets are unpredictable. History can or doesn't have to repeat itself. For this reason, we do not back-test our strategies. We forward test them. Using historical data to predict the future is like trying to drive a car forward by looking in the rearview mirror. This is why most trading strategies fail to produce the same results as in their tests. The markets either go up or down, or stay range bound and chop. Therefore, we test out strategies in real time going forward, not backwards, based on price action in all unknown and unpredictable market conditions and without the benefit of hindsight. There is never a guarantee that any trading system or indicator will always be 100% accurate, but the probabilities of success are greatly increased when one focuses on a longer term trend and on the price action of the given instrument. There are millions of traders that have been using various popular indicators for decades without any effect on the market. The fact that someone is using a trading indicator, or a trading strategy, does not affect how the market behaves.
