<h1>Early days of stock an options trading</h1>
In the early days of my career, in the late 1980&rsquo;s, I would study the Sunday financial section of the newspaper every single weekend, since we had no internet, and no CNBC. Unfortunately, my results in the beginning were not great.
&nbsp;
I bought my very first options trading course more than 25 years ago. It was an intense 3-day seminar, Friday to Sunday... I paid $3,000 for it back then, which means it would probably cost $10,000 now... and I got a workbook 3 inches thick. I learned everything about options there was to learn. Everything from the &ldquo;Greeks&rdquo;, the Gammas and Deltas, to the different types of options structures like Straddles, Strangles, Spreads, Butterflies... Equipped with this theoretical knowledge, I jumped right into trading. The only problem was &ndash; even though I learned the theory, the course didn&rsquo;t teach me HOW to trade. It didn&rsquo;t give me the step-by-step instruction, which I could follow to make successful trades. So, I blew out one account after another, losing over $200,000 of my hard-earned money in just the first few months... and I quickly realized that I would have to learn the &ldquo;success part&rdquo; of trading on my own &ndash; through my own experiences and my own mistakes.

I have since spent years and years making countless mistakes after mistakes, BUT learning along the way. More importantly, I have bought every trading course, every seminar, every video, and studied every relevant article I could find. I have done this for the last 25 years and I am still doing it to this day. If there is an idea that can help me be better, I want to know about it... The information I have accumulated over the decades could easily be made into a 2-year MBA-type college course.... but seriously, who wants to spend another 2 years of their life in school? Besides, what percentage of what you learned in college are you actually using in your practical life? 10%? Maybe 5%? Or less?? Exactly!!
